If you like fishing, there are numerous lakes in the area to be explored. Local catches include hybrids, perch, pike, roach, bream, trench, rudd, and brown trout. We are in the heart of the Irish Lakeland’s and within a short distance from the River Shannon at Lanesboro, east bank that has been recently re-vamped to facilitate anglers, Tarmonbarry, and Rooskey where you can hire boats, relax and enjoy the fishing experience. Annagh Lake is also situated not far from the cottages where there is a six trout bag limit. Going in the other direction towards Mullingar you will find Lough Ennel. It is a trout fishery of note and produces some of the finest brown Trout in the country
North Longford Fishing
North Longford is noted for its wild well conditioned bream, roach, hybrids, pike, perch and its two games lakes with brown and rainbow trout, it has few equals as a holiday haven – probably none.
Lanesborough Fishing
Lanesborough is located on the main River Shannon at the northern end of Lough Ree in Co Longford. It is about 135 kms approx from Dublin and 15 kms from Longford Town. This is a renowned Angling Centre where you will find all supporting services including Accommodation, Tackle and Boat Hire etc. Advise is always readily available locally. This is an ideal base for the Pike angler interested in fishing Lough Ree where you can expect Pike up to 20lbs +. Lanesborough offers excellent facilities for the Coarse Angler. There are three venues from which to choose – The renowned Hot Water Stretch, The Cut and Kilnacarrow.
Royal Canal
Coarse fishing in this areas centres on the Royal Canal. The Royal Canal holds an excellent stock of pike, perch, bream, roach, tench and eels. There has been extensive development on large stretches of these waterways and there is good access for disabled anglers in some areas.
